Sourced from the legendary Lamastus Family Estates, this gesha is shaped by one of the most unique microclimates on Earth. Over half of the El Burro estate sits inside the Volcan Baru National Park, a protected ecological reserve and sanctuary for exotic wildlife. Grown at extreme elevations up to 1,800 meters in rich, young volcanic soil, these coffee trees thrive under the canopy of a virgin native rainforest. This pristine environment creates a truly unparalleled growing condition where nature dictates a much slower, more intentional pace.
Cold nights, dense fog, and heavy mist during the dry season slow down nature's clock, meaning these trees take up to five and a half years to begin producing fruit, which is nearly twice as long as standard coffee plants. Furthermore, these low temperatures extend the ripening time of the coffee cherries by a full month. This prolonged development allows the sugars to concentrate producing complex sugars.
